What's the latest trend to walk the red carpet? Purple satin. I love satin, whether it's bed sheets, or clothes, it just feels so luxurious. Anne Hathaway was the latest celebrity to make this new trend famous. She was seen donning a formfitting Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress. The only thing about satin is you have to make sure the dress or whatever it is you are wearing fits in all of the right places. If it's too tight, satin has a way of showing every little roll.

XMAS Fashion Countdown Day 3
Don't be a copycat
I myself have drooled over the latest outfits in Cosmo and Glamour, and I'm sure you've tried to copy an outfit that you saw once or twice. With a holiday attire it's super easy to just throw on your little black dress and heels and go because a. you procastinated on the couch all evening and now you are in a rush or b. you're just too tired to deal with it. However, be careful that you are not too trendy. I know that sounds rather contradictive considering we are all trying to be trendy but don't try to copy what your favorite celebrity looks like in that airbrushed photo. Here's a little secret: Celebrities often overdo the trends on the red carpet for a better photo-op. In everyday life, it would not look so hot, similar to the skimpy outfit deal on Day 2.
My tip for wearing something trendy but keeping it your style? Accessories, accessories, accessories! I cannot say it enough. You would be surprised how much a little pair of earrings and a clutch can really vamp up a wardrobe. Accessories are what pull an outfit together and you will probably never see a celebrity without one.
Holiday Party Extras:
A simple pendant on a chain. If it's long then don't go for the long earrings too. Also, if the pendant is big then go simple on the earrings, or the opposite. Remember: Too much of something is not always good.
If you are wearing a little black dress and you don't want to over do then go for the little diamond earrings, black pumps, and a velvet clutch. It's simple and sweet
Want to be more adventurous? Instead of a black clutch, pair it with a wine red or silver clutch.

Xmas Fashion Countdown Day 2
Leave the skin-showing for the alligators. Believe it or not, you can still be sexy while leaving something to the imagination. With all of the runway shows going on people want to wear the super short skirts and the navel showing outfits. However, at a holiday party you might want to be more conservative. Now, that's not to say that you can't show a little skin. If you have great legs then a skirt with a slit would be appropriate, or if you have really great arms then you would want to show them off with a halter style top. The main thing is to show off your best features. For example, if you are too insecure to show skin then could show off great cleavage with a vintage necklace that hangs low, or a lacy top under a velvet blazer. Either way, be sexy not sleazy.

You Should Not be as Shiny as the Christmas Tree
Christmas Fashion Countdown Day 1
Usually at the holiday's people think they can break out their brightest and glitziest outfits. Considering most of us are not able to drop a million dollars on a glamorous outfit, anything too extreme will probably be a little gaudy. Now, that's not to say you can't wear a little glitz. But the key is to not wear it from head to toe.
About.com gives some good tips on wearing glitz the right way:
Here's How:
Start by incorporating small embellished items into your wardrobe, such as a handbag.
Make sure the embellishment is scaled to your figure -- palettes or huge sequins may overwhelm petite figures.
Large, intricate jewelry looks best with streamlined, simple clothing.
In general, embellishment such as sequins, embroidery, trims and studs look classier on basic colors like black or white.
Make sure embellishment is used on or near a body part you want to call attention to -- it draws the eye to it.
For maximum impact, wear just one embellished item at a time.
If you do mix embellishments, make sure they are different types, such as a fringed shawl with an embroidered skirt.
Tips:
Like most things in fashion, this is a fad. If you hate it, skip it.
Embellished items look dressier than plain ones, so save them for special occasions.
Embellishment makes items more difficult to care for -- beaded fringe fall off, embroidery gets pulls, etc. -- so account for high maintenance.
